New 2026
Recent 2026 Images - The mosquitoes are crazy in the spring. I visit the Little Truckee River several times a year and this is the only time I struggle to enjoy the sunset. On this evening in June, I left my home at 8pm, arrived at 8:25pm, and ran down the ravine to my location. Camera settings and tripod were ready to go. Sunset was at 8:30pm. I shot until the sky started darkening around 8:45 and was home by 9:15pm. Normally, I bring my dog and stay for at least an hour. That is not an option in the spring. But the vibrant sky and lush surroundings are worth the mosquito attack. The sky doesn't always light up like this but when it does, it is so satisfying. On this particular evening, I was rewarded with colorful clouds right above the turn in the river. I could not have asked for a better sunset. Those are the first two shots below.
