MEGAN AND JULIO TAKING A RIDEFROM BASE CAMPHIMEX CAMP - That big white dome is Russell Brice's "White Pod." It is heated with lounge chairs and tables and someone told me, a big screen TV, but I refuse to believe that because I didn't actually see it. We peered inside like little kids locked out of Disneyland.Yaks and herders returning to Base CampThe Philippine Women's Team and Penny from New Zealand - We got lots of visitors at BC. The Philippine women became the first women to traverse the mountain. They summitted from the north and descended down the south side. I could say that I'm insanely jealous and that I hate them all but they were really cool and I'm very happy for them!THE CAVEMAN - He is a holy Lama but we called him the Caveman because he's lived here in a cave for 15 years. The Sherpas visit him to ask how they will do on the mountain. During this visit, Gene asked (and paid) for a reading. The Caveman had to roll his dice 6 times to get a "good" roll (that's not good). The Caveman told our Sherpas that Gene should pray every day (really not good). The rest of us opted out.THE CAVEThe Caveman is rolling the dice. Now he reads the manuscript.Phanden takes out his prayer beads.EVERESTTAMDING - He worked hard doing the dirty work but he always had a smile on his face.KONYI GLASSES - His real name is Laszlo Alfred Varkonyi, but everyone in Hungary calls him Konyi. He and his climbing partner, David, shared our VISA, base camp and ABC services. This would be their fourth attempt without oxygen (which is nuts, BTW). I don't know exactly how high they made it, maybe to 8300 meters, only that they did not summit.WHERE ARE WE GOING EXACTLY?
