BASE CAMP - That's our camp. BC is at about 17,000 feet. We stayed here for 5 days acclimatizing before moving up to ABC. Then we returned for another week to enjoy the benefits of increased oxygen before our final summit push.

OUR CAMP - The two big blue tents are the kitchen and dining tents. In yellow is our shower and the blue tent at the far left is our toilet.

LOOKING AT CHINESE CAMP - The Chinese carried the Olympic Torch to the summit. They had 100 climbers, 17 reaching the summit, and a humongous camp that housed the 100 climbers.

HOTEL DE CALIFORNIA (since 1993) It's like I never left home. About an hour walk down the hill from BC, this temporary village is set up by Tibetans wishing to sell goods, food and services to visitors.
